A new study from the University of California, Davis has determined that evolution is not an unpredictable, random process after all.

The researchers, led by Dr. Luke Maher, studied the evolution of lizards on different Caribbean islands, which have been separated by reefs and open waters for millions of years.

The researchers investigated the different species of lizards, which appear to have evolved from a single species. The researchers found that even on different islands, the lizards had evolved similarly, and practically the same identical species with similar body characteristics had evolved independently of each other on the different islands.

The four islands studied were Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola (which includes Haiti and the Dominican Republic) and Puerto Rico. According to the report, Dr. Mahler indicates that these four islands offer a unique opportunity to study evolution in similar, yet completely independent environments.

One of the lizard families the researchers studied was the anole lizards, which have several species. As it turns out, the lizard populations on each island have evolved similarly, and all the islands therefore have a type of anole lizard which are considered "twig specialists" according to Dr. Mahler.

These "twig specialists" creep along twigs at night and blend into the twigs in a manner that allows them to be practically undetected among other wildlife.

The study has proven what is now termed "convergent evolution" - which is a similar evolutionary pattern appearing among diverse populations that were unconnected.

This of course illustrates that evolution is not a random thing. It is part of the programming of the natural world.

And as we prove further on, this type of extensive programming of evolution requires a source of that programming - a Programmer.

The absence of random evolution is only one of many indications that the natural world and the universe as a whole is not a random system. It is designed. It is programmed. The fact that natural events are repeatable - for example if we dropped the same ball over and over the same thing would happen - indicates that this is not a random universe as many modern scientists are proposing.

This of course reveals the existence of a Supreme Being, who designed and is ultimately governing the process of evolution.

This also indicates the existence of purpose in life. A purpose for our existence. And a purpose for the process of evolution.
