Many who would have us believe that animals and humans are different with respect to the existence of the soul - claiming that animals do not have souls - like to argue that animals do not possess higher intellectual abilities such as the appreciation of music.

This is incorrect. In the above video, we see clear evidence that animals do have this capacity. This cat is wanting to make music with the piano and plays her own tune. Nora tries to hit the right keys and near the end, plays a unique song.

What this video also evidences is that the living person within an animal body has the ability to evolve intellectually. We see that the person within the cat's body is listening to and appreciating music. The cat is also learning to press the right keys in order to make music too. This indicates the ability of that person within the cat's body can not only learn, but evolve.

Notice also how the cat is emulating how the piano is played, along with the tempo of the music. Nora is evolving as she is becoming more and more like a human - through close contact with humans.

It is one thing for an animal to learn new tricks in order to get fed. This, some will argue, is simply a survival instinct. But this argument is thrown out the window by evidence like this, where the cat is obviously responding and improving her skills. There is a higher intellectual experience going on here - this is not simple survival.

Besides, even learning for the purpose of survival indicates the existence of a living person within the body of an animal or any other organism for that matter. Where does the need and desire to survive come from? And why does nearly every living being down to the ant and bacteria have this desire to survive?

If living organisms are simply chemicals - chaotic cells packed with DNA - there would be no reason to avoid dying. Dying would mean merging the chemicals back to other chemicals. If organisms were simply chemicals merging back to other chemicals, death would not be a problem, and no organism would bother to avoid death - and try to survive.

Rather, animals - and all living organisms - avoid death because the living, spirit-person within is eternal. Therefore, death is foreign to the eternal living person.

But once we - and other organisms - identify ourselves with our physical body, aging and death are things to be avoided at all costs.
